Born into a lineage of English clergymen in 1810, Charles Tanqueray possessed a penchant for experimentation akin to that of a modern-day mad scientist. Renowned for his inventive spirit, he delved into various creations, from concocting animal remedies to formulating horseshoe polish. Despite his familial background, Charles diverged from tradition by eschewing university education and embarking on a journey into the world of distillation. Alongside his brother Edward, he sought apprenticeship at the Curries Distillery to master the art of crafting spirits.
